Evaluation of Psychiatric Disorders in Spouse of Patients with Alcohol Dependence Syndrome

Background and Aim: Alcohol Dependence Syndrome has deleterious consequences not only on the patient with but also members of his family. The psychopathology in wives patients is a largely neglected area psychiatric research. Aim present study was to evaluate frequency nature disorders Syndrome.
 Materials Methods: A total 177 wives, 100 77 Bipolar Affective Disorder- current episode mania were evaluated. Tools used ICD-10 AM symptom checklist modules for assessment morbidity diagnosis made based International Classification Diseases – (Diagnostic Research Criteria DCR-10).
 Results: Psychiatric are diagnosed 75% alcohol dependence syndrome out which 45% have dysthymia, 12% mild depressive episode, 8% adjustment disorder- prolonged reaction, 5% moderate anxiety disorder unspecified.
 Conclusion: concludes that significant when compared Disorder-current mania. most common dysthymia.
